Affordable, reliable energy is important to all Hawaii Island residents. The Hamakua Energy
team recognizes our kuleana (responsibility) to enhance energy security for our island home by using more lower-cost renewable fuels.

Hamakua Energy is Hawaii Island’s second largest producer and we’re taking our commitment to renewable energy to an exciting new level. Currently, up to a third of the electricity we produce at our facility comes from renewable fuel.

With proven technology and engineering and storage capacity for different types of renewable fuels, we will be able to use 100% renewable fuels to produce electricity. This is our way of taking care of our island and creating a more secure, resilient, and flexible energy future for Hawaii Island residents and businesses. Hamakua Energy’s new project will contribute to our state’s goal of using 100% renewable energy by 2045.
